Wall to wall Details

Alrighty!  Here is an itemized view of my crazy living room!  Sorry it took so long, I've been hit with an early Spring cold and its been kickin' my butt!  Don't worry though, you can't catch my cold by visiting the blog....I think!  The dot on the main pic relate to the pics below.  You can click on any of the pics for a bigger view.

Section A

Madam Butterfly in lamp form featured on the Everything is Illuminated post.

Carved Wood Woman, made from a single piece of wood.  I fell in love with her as soon as I saw her.  I like her strong features and the big ol' pipe she's smoking!  Plus, I have a thing for nekkid ladies!  In one way or another I have many artistic renditions of them around the house.

Cute little magazine rack, found at some thrift store somewhere.  It has two sides for magazines and a little handle.  I love the black metal look, its wavy shape and those hairpin legs are too cute!

Section B

Thrift store painting, cost about 6 dollars.  It was one of the 1st pieces of art in the apartment.  I love the blue and green with that one accent of orange!

Vintage skates, from a thrift store.  The colors are so wonderful.  I love the faded sued and yellow accents.  They are really small so I've never used them, they are purely for decoration!

Section C

Basket Purses!
This is only a few from the collection.  Someday I'll do a proper post on them.  Click the pics for larger view.

These can still be found at thrift stores and other sales, usually for relatively cheap.  In my heyday, I was bringing several home a week.  I refer to them as "Granny Gear" since I always think of lil' old blue haired ladies carrying them.  I love it when you find extras in them like old combs and pocket mirrors.

Section D

This is the window that would normally provide a view into my bedroom.  I think my bedroom was originally an open air porch that was later enclosed as a bonafied room.  There is also a door on the porch that leads into my bedroom.  This place is very strange but I love it for that!  The windows themselves are amazing and I have 3 total in the house.  I wanted to make it part of the design of the living room instead of just hiding it.  The wood carving is from a thrift store, naturally and found its permanent home in this window.
Here is a detail of the carving.

Section E

My favorite Pole lamp, a classic look indeed!

Section F

The coffee table to end all coffee tables,  Very cool, It looks homemade and is very sturdy.  It was a birthday gift to myself at a whopping $5.  I've had it for years, I bought it even before I had my own place because I knew it was a once in a lifetime score.

Thanks for visiting my humble abode!  There will always be more to come!

I have a vintage pair of roller skates my brothers used to use... Wasn't sure what to do with them, but I never thought of hanging them on the wall. Great idea!

  6. The ashtray's designs are unusual and for some reason remind me of the Flintstones. Ok, I'm weird!

  7. Hahah, Granny gear!
Nice purses, I should make a post of mine now, you have some really colorful ones!
Yeah! finding little things inside them is so fun, I found an appointment card for some plastic surgery place, also a pair of silky black snake skin looking gloves.

  8. OMG! I had those EXACT same roller skates when I was a young pre teen! I never thought I'd run into a pair again. I had the blue ones with the yellow stripes and my sister had brown with...I think white stripes, maybe orange. I remember thinking they weren't cool enough when I owned them so I hardly used them. I could kick my self in the butt now. sigh.

  9. 50sme, I remember thinking that Milton Bradley games were "cheap" and not as good as Parker Bros. games based solely on their logos. Parker Bros. has that cool black and white Twilight Zone spiral and Milton Bradly just had an M and a B in red and blue...boring! Its so funny the way kid's brains work!
