I discovered a great way to make cleaning the kitchen bearable; at least for me!
-Just put your portable record player on the counter and grab a stack of 45's.
-Start one up and see how many dishes you can wash in the amount of time it takes to finish the A side.
-Dry hands, flip record, repeat!
I washed all the dishes, cleaned the counters, and even cleaned the stove top which was pretty knarly. Your cat will think you are crazy and your roommate will realize that yes, you are crazy... as if she didn't already know...but the kitchen will be clean!
The record player is a Sears "denim" portable. I begged my Dad to get this for me for Christmas one year. It plays the 45's amazingly well, better than my stereo turntable. I always picture teenage girls sitting on the floor listening to Elvis when I use it. Oh, and its semi famous, it is the same model record player that they use in E.T. to build a machine to contact the space ship! WOW!
I got this stack of records at a yard sale last weekend. I have just begun to listen to them & sort them out. I have a 1964 Seaburg jukebox down in the arcade/garage that I'm trying to fill. Did I ever mention I heart slash have everything LOL! I will post the juke some day soon, I promise! There is just so. so. soooo much good stuff I have to work my way up to the biggies.
In the meantime, enjoy this video of my kittie AD Doodle listening to "Last Night" by the Mar-Keys!
As you can tell, she is enthralled!
Nice! I remember my first record player, a christmas present in the early 60's. My first record was Frosty The Snowman and Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer . Oh how I loved that record player. Can't wait to see all your treasures.
ReplyDeleteomg the video is PRICELESS!!! LOL!! Looks like my cat when I try to do anything that has nothing to do with him!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, love the little record player...
You don't look old enough to know what a record player is! Cute cat!
